The Government of India has sanctioned new Inter State Transmission System (ISTS) schemes to facilitate the evacuation of 9 GW of renewable energy (RE) power from Rajasthan and Karnataka. These projects will be executed through the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) mode. These initiatives are integral to the nation’s goal of achieving 500 GW RE capacity by 2030, with 200 GW already connected.

- Rajasthan Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) Evacuation Scheme:
- Capacity: 4.5 GW of RE power
- Sources:
- 1 GW from Fatehgarh Complex
- 2.5 GW from Barmer Complex
- 1 GW from Nagaur (Merta) Complex
- Destination: Power will be transferred to the Mainpuri Region, Fatehpur, and Orai in Uttar Pradesh.
- Completion Period: Two years
- Estimated Cost: ₹12,241 crore
- Karnataka System Strengthening Scheme:
- Capacity: 4.5 GW of RE power
